Charity Event in Paisley Raises Money for Ukrainian Children

Foundation member Nataliia Hinde, who is married to a native of Paisley, organised a Family Fun Day Charity Event in the Civic Centre in Paisley on Saturday 11th June, 2009, in association with Barnardo's The funds raised will be used for children?s projects in both Scotland and Ukraine and the event was sponsored by local businesses in Paisley and supported by Renfrewshire Council.

Nataliia said: ?We wanted to help by raising money for orphanages in Ukraine, as well as Barnardo?s Scotland. Children are the innocent ones and they are also our future.
We are so fortunate in this country to have excellent social services and a system of care that simply does not exist for mothers and children in other countries."

During the day a number of dignitaries visited the Paisley Civic Centre, where the event was being staged, including the Consul General of Ukraine, Mr Vitalii Pantus, who exchanged gifts and words of friendship with the Provost of Renfrewshire, Mrs Celia Lawson. Nataliia said ?The relationships that we have established will develop much further in the future and we are sure that cultural and business links will get stronger between the two countries."

The event raised in excess of £1000 with additional funds still coming in and it is hoped that it will be repeated next year.
