The Foundation's support to the Orphanage at Vorzel continued with a visit from Professor Robert Brown with gifts for the children for Christmas.
The recent visit of the Foundation's delegation to the Kyiv City Administration and the meeting with Deputy Mayor Sergei Rudyk was reported on the City's Website.
A delegation from the Friends of Ukraine (Scotland Foundation) travelled to Kyiv in early November for a number of meetings to cement relationships with Government and Kyiv City officials in relation to the projects that are being progressed by the Foundation.
Professor Robert Brown, a member of the Foundation's Management Committee, has been working for some time now on developing links between Edinburgh and Kiev. These links are intended to develop across a range of areas of interest from business and cultural through to the equally important social links that enables the work of the Foundation to progress as well as it has done.
The first proper venture organised by the Friends of Ukraine (Scottish Foundation) was undertaken in June during the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston. The Foundation, in partnership with the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland and Scottish and Newcastle Breweries, arranged for a delegation of eight musicians and six craftspeople to participate in this year's Royal Highland Show.
Friday 17th August 2007 saw the Foundation's first social event for members and friends, a successful and convivial cheese and wine evening held at the Consulate at Windsor Street in Edinburgh. Thanks to the hard work of Senia Urquhart and Lesley Kormylo, ably assisted by staff from the Consulate, members and their friends were treated to a wide selection of cheeses and fresh fruit accompanied by some fine wines and soft drinks for the more abstemious of the attendees.
